Where Beauty Has Lived For 170 Years
Posted by Kozminsky on 21st Mar 2021
This year, Kozminsky celebrates 170 years in Melbourne.
Beginning during the gold rush, the first Kozminsky store sold all manner of precious and desirable objects from loose gems, gold nuggets and sovereigns to all things to do with the zodiac and numerology.
As our city became the richest in the world during the 1880s, Kozminsky evolved to become a virtual cabinet of curiosity and desire catering for the new found wealth of Melbourne.
Swords, Persian carpets, paintings and Objet d’Art arrived from Europe and the East to satisfy the appetite of young aspiring collectors, and an evolving Melbourne.
Kozminsky survived the challenges of the great depression and maintained its place as a respected emporium of the beautiful and the valuable. Kozminsky has had many locations within the Melbourne streets and lanes.
After many years in Little Collins Street, Kozminsky moved to its iconic building in Bourke Street where it lived for over forty years.
There is nothing more certain than change and as business evolved so did Kozminsky.
Today, we have created a wonderful studio on Collins Street with a more curated collection of wonderful jewels.
Intimate and private events are part of our new offerings with monthly conversations where we continue our journeys into the beautiful and stylish world of jewels across the world.
The one hundred and seventy years has helped us extract the essence of Kozminsky.
Today our cabinet of curiosities, jewels and treasures looks down on the Plane Tree lined Collins st, as it did over one hundred and fifty years ago.
Join us as the journey continues.
