A symbol love, commitment and hope.
The story begans 40 years ago when mum and dad decided to flee Saigon with me and my two brothers. We left behind my grand-father and auntie.
We crossed the South China Sea, where a storm nearly took our lives.
Pirates attacked us, stealing everything except for dad’s wedding band which he hid in his mouth. Days after arriving in KL on Palau Bidong (Refugee Island) dad traded in his ring for pen and paper to notify family back home that we were safe.
The Pirate Ring is my dedication to the ring dad lost. The raw facets illustrating the turbulent sea, the journey to a better place though not without its consequences. A small diamond set on the inside of the band denotes something precious, a treasure that needs protecting.
